What Salt Air Is Actually Doing Under There

Most people picture surface rust — brown patches on a subframe, cosmetic, ignorable. That’s not the part that matters.

Brake lines are a safety item, not a maintenance item

Steel brake lines corrode from the outside in. What makes them dangerous is that the failure tends to be sudden rather than gradual: a line that looked serviceable splits under hard braking, when line pressure is highest and you need the system most.

You don’t get much warning. A pedal that goes soft, or goes to the floor, in the one moment you can’t afford it.

The parts that seize rather than break

The one nobody checks: electrical grounds
